Rebecka Lovell, President˜

I began my recruiting career with Marlar International in Europe in 1992.  In 1996, I relocated to Manhattan to work for an investment company where I served as Human Resources Manager and recruiter.  I then joined a top New York HR consulting and executive recruiting firm, and worked as Director of Research for five years until founding The Lovell Company in 2003.

O ur backgrounds, our philosophies,

I hold dual degrees in Industrial and Clinical Psychology from the Institut Catholique de Paris.  As a European-licensed psychologist, I have found my analytical training to be of significant value in accurately identifying suitable candidates.  My clinical experience affords me the insight to ensure a solid match between a corporate culture and an executive’s personality, in addition to the fundamentals of educational and professional background and credentials.  I am a Professional Member of the Society for Human Resources Management.

Volunteering and giving back are important factors in adding balance to my life and value to my days.   I have helped children of migrant workers in Upstate New York, teens in crisis at Covenant House in Manhattan, and currently volunteer locally in New Jersey.  Five percent of all fees received by The Lovell Company, after taxes but before any expenses, are given to charity.

Understanding other cultures and lands has been a lifelong pursuit; this has led me to traverse the globe.  The more I experience, the more approaches I have to consider situations, and the more I understand about people.  I have spent ten years outside the US, residing in and visiting 43 other countries.  Home is now a farm on a mountaintop in western New Jersey.

Finding the perfect talent for the task at hand has been a lifelong passion of mine.

My experience incorporates both small, high-growth business, as well as Fortune 500 companies.  As a co-founder of Fairfax Communications, I was charged with building a Sales force from the ground up.

As our technology company grew, I then turned my attention to the executive staffing. I realized very early on that an organization is nothing without talented, driven, caring people – at every level.  Every day, in meeting and interviewing candidates, I seek out individuals such as these.

It is gratifying for me to identify the gems amidst a pool of candidates – those individuals who meet all our desired criteria and go beyond – and introduce them to the firms we work with.

Earlier in my career, at Brooks Brothers, a division of Retail Brand Alliance, I was responsible for finding both seasoned and high-potential individuals across several divisions, in order to build upon one of the most respected high-end brand names in fashion.  During my time there, the industry was undergoing major transitions.  Finding candidates that were the right “fit” both for the company culture and changing retail landscape was critical at that juncture.

My focus at The Lovell Company is to assist clients in hiring exceptional candidates for their needs, and to aid executives making career transitions to identify their most promising paths.  My strengths include organizational development, with a particular focus in executive search and development, succession planning, and multi-cultural/International workforces.

Throughout my career, I have been known for promoting an inclusive, diverse, and respectful culture where employees and management engage and collaborate in initiatives that are rewarding for both the company and its people.  I get great pleasure from finding “the piece of the puzzle” that benefits both employer and employee.

On a personal note, I love the outdoors, obsess about golf, and find that music truly does sooth the savage beast.  I hold a degree in business administration with a minor in psychology from Long Island University.
